File
A file input lets users upload or attach a file to a record.
File inputs are useful for contracts, PDFs, spreadsheets, press kits, supporting documents, and other attachments that belong to one record. They are input components for storing a file reference on the record.
When to Use It
Use a file input when a record needs one primary attachment or document.
File inputs work well for documents that support a workflow, such as signed contracts or uploaded proofs. For image-heavy records with multiple images, use Image Gallery.
What Can Be Configured
Label
The label should name the expected file clearly, such as "Signed contract", "Press kit", or "Invoice PDF".
Validation
Rules can guide what counts as an acceptable upload, such as requiring a file before a workflow can continue.
Workflow Fit
Project teams should decide whether the file is edited by internal users, submitted through a public form, or generated elsewhere and only displayed in Pianola.
